Announcing Folowen Search APIs
Posted on May 18th, 2010 No commentsYes, finally after almost 10 months of no activity, we are back! And we do so with a big announcement!
Our Search APIs are ready to use, you can check the documentation here and apply for an API key here.
Two methods are introduced, one that enables you to search for someone’s profile URL for a specific social service and another that let’s you get profile results across all services supported by Folowen.
The results are in json format which should enable you to retrieve and display the way you like, for each result you will get the URL of the profile, an excerpt from the content in that profile as well as the profile title as supplied by each service.
That’s about it! We will be using the API soon for a project we are working on at Spring and hopefully we will see some cool implementations in the social sphere.
Want cool ideas? here are some:
- You can use the API to fetch Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn…etc profiles of your users to enhance the information on their profiles without troubling them with adding too much data!
- You can use the API to fetch Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn…etc profiles when listing people/organizations in your website to enable others to connect to them.
- You can make a smart browser plug-in (if we didn’t do it first!) whereby you detect names of people or organizations and add a tool tip that contains their social profiles.
Got other cool ideas or need extra help, please don’t hesitate to give us a shout
