  • folowen now in public beta!

Posted on June 23rd, 2009 Razan Khatib No comments

We are very excited to announce that we have just released folowen in public beta earlier today!

folowen is a social media search tool that aggregates social profiles of people and organization’s on several social media sites into one search result.

It simply makes it easy for you to follow a person or organization’s social web; be it a Facebook profile, page, group, a Twitter account, a LinkedIn profile, a YouTube channel…etc.

Currently, folowen uses Google AJAX Search API to find  user profiles in 20 social media sites.

Thanks to all of our private beta testers and their great feedback the past month; we have added extra features to go along with the public beta launch!

    Public beta new features:

    • Now search is open without sign up, and sign up is open without an invitation!
    • Now your search results will list up to 4 links for each service for you to browse through, this has been a repeated request by many of our private beta testers!
    • The most exciting new feature for signed up users is Direct Follow where you can follow the person/organization you searched for directly from the search results page. This is enabled for four services at the moment which you need to connect folowen to from your Settings/Direct Follow page:
      1. Twitter
      2. YouTube
      3. FriendFeed
      4. Facebook : (folowen will tell you if you are already connected to that person or organization and will enable you to open a pop-up to add them to your friends since Facebook API doesn’t support adding people directly from outside applications.)

Looking forward for more feedback from everyone to help us make folowen even more useful.
